This Privacy Policy explains how YAPP (Your Accessible Personal Platform) handles information when you use the app.

Overview

YAPP is an accessibility and AAC app that helps users communicate using eye gaze, head gestures, touch, captions, photos, and caregiver features. YAPP is designed to keep sensitive data on the user's device whenever possible.

YAPP does not sell personal information. YAPP does not use TrueDepth data for advertising, marketing, profiling, or data brokerage.

Information YAPP Uses

• Camera and TrueDepth data for eye-gaze selection, blink input, head gesture input, calibration, and jaw-open detection for the optional Line Cook game.
• Photos selected by the user or caregiver for communication cards.
• Microphone and speech recognition for live captions and optional caregiver voice controls.
• Bluetooth for accessibility accessories such as switches, hearing aids, and caregiver audio accessories.
• Local network and nearby-device connectivity for optional partner and caregiver features between the user's own devices.
• Apple system authentication, including Face ID or passcode, to unlock caregiver-only settings. YAPP does not receive or store Face ID biometric templates.
• Locally stored app content such as settings, calibration values, cards, photos, activity pages, optional logs, backups, and local history.

Camera, TrueDepth, and Face Data

YAPP uses the Apple TrueDepth front camera to estimate gaze direction, eye blink openness, head pose, and jaw-open amount for the optional Line Cook game. This processing occurs on-device in real time to support eye-gaze selection, calibration, blink input, head gesture input, and the optional game.

YAPP does not store or upload raw camera images, raw depth maps, face mesh geometry, or biometric templates.

YAPP uses only the face-derived signals needed for accessibility and app functionality. YAPP does not use TrueDepth data to identify a person or build a biometric profile.

How YAPP Uses Information

• To let users select communication cards with their eyes, blinks, head gestures, touch, or other accessibility controls.
• To perform eye-tracking calibration and improve on-device gaze accuracy for that device.
• To create, edit, organize, and display communication cards and activity pages.
• To support captions, optional caregiver voice controls, and related communication features.
• To connect optional partner or caregiver features between the user's own nearby devices.
• To export backups, logs, or other content only when the user or caregiver chooses to do so.

What YAPP Does Not Do

• YAPP does not sell personal information.
• YAPP does not store or upload raw TrueDepth images, raw depth maps, face mesh geometry, or biometric templates.
• YAPP does not use TrueDepth data for advertising, analytics profiling, or cross-app tracking.
• YAPP does not automatically send communication logs, card photos, or calibration data to a remote server as part of normal app use.

Sharing

YAPP does not share TrueDepth face data with third parties.

If optional partner view or caregiver companion features are enabled, YAPP may share limited session status, captions, phrase content, or caregiver-control data only over the user's local encrypted device-to-device connection between the user's own devices. This does not include raw camera frames, raw depth data, face mesh geometry, or biometric templates.

If a user chooses to export a backup, share a log, or save images to the photo library, that sharing is user-initiated.

Storage, Retention, and Deletion

• Live face-tracking values are processed in memory and discarded after use.
• Calibration coefficients are stored locally on the user's device until they are reset, recalibrated, the app is deleted, or the device data is removed.
• Cards, settings, captions, optional logs, and similar app content are stored locally on the user's device unless the user chooses to export them.
• Exported backups or shared files are retained wherever the user saves or sends them.
• Users can clear optional history and logs through in-app controls where available.

Your Choices and Controls

Users can revoke app permissions at any time in iOS Settings, including camera, microphone, speech recognition, photo library, Bluetooth, local network, and Face ID access.

• Reset eye-tracking calibration inside YAPP.
• Disable optional logging or nearby-sharing features.
• Delete cards, photos, logs, or backups they created.
• Remove exported files from the destination where they were saved.
• Delete the YAPP app from the device to remove locally stored app data.

Children and Caregiver Use

YAPP may be used by children or adults who rely on accessibility and AAC support. Caregivers are responsible for reviewing app settings, permissions, exports, and device-sharing choices for the user when appropriate.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the updated version on this page and update the date above.
